They kept trying to change the basic gameplay after 3. 1 and 2 just weren't advanced enough yet. If they just left well enough alone and revamped the graphics and added more races and units or something games after 3 could have been alright.
Honestly though, Heroes 3 LOOKS way better than the games afterwards. It's an example of people thinking bad 3D will be better than beautiful 2D.

It seemed like later attempts made the game more like a bad version of Age of Wonders. But the reduction of features and functionality was the worst part. Going from nine towns to like... five? And some of them didn't even really make sense, like why were the demons and the necromancers shacking up? And why the hell would building one type of unit preclude me from building another? I want options, damnit. Also the whole 2d 3d thing you said because pretty things are important.
Anyway, Minecraft is also a game that you play on a computer.

So I started playing this, what the FUCK kind of time do y'all have on your hands? My offline biome is lame as shit and then I log into your server and holy CHRIST (I shouted). I dig the underwater place. Also the castle. Also the nekkid zelda (well done aaron).
Never seen anyone actually ON the server though.

You have to understand that there was a LAN party in which most of us were playing it for three or four days with limited interruption. If you follow the enormous highway you can even come up to Commie's box castle which was built over the course of several days and is mighty, though uninteresting.
Anyway, things are always going to seem more impressive when you have about four to seven people all working on the same thing at once.

The underwater palace was easy, and just a little time consuming, because you had to make all the glass, then dive, place the glass, build a cap, then mine out all the water. Nez and I were working on it together (or he placed all the glass at least) and it probably took us an hour? Probably the worst part was connecting the tunnel to the rest of the base because we ran out of torches and skeletons got into it for a while and then if I remember correctly I dug up into some sand and got myself killt.
Diamond takes some level of spelunking ability because you usually stumble into it in caverns where there's lots of lava and you're near the bottom of the world. It's only down there and you can dig in those areas a lot without ever seeing any of it.
Iron you should just be stumbling on all the time while you're exploring caverns, or at least that's how I get mine (HA) along with the gold and the abundant coal and redstone which I never actually use.
I take it you haven't yet found our monster farming devices?

I actually did find the zombie river, which I'm not actually 100% on it's purpose besides killing zombies. Do they only spawn in that one place cuz it's the only dark place and the game NEEDS to spawn a set amount of them or something?

If you're talking about their little video with farming it, there's a enemy spawner far back into that construction. The enemy spawner can only be found in dungeons. You cannot break or move the spawner so they build that around it.
The enemy spawner needs darkness to spawn enemies.

Zombies and such automatically spawn in the dark. Though, if there's a dungeon nearby it might be spawning them too.

im thinking about making a trap near my cave thing.
first, i have a flat plain, one block deep with the sides covered with a fence, excluding the spider (so that mobs can jump in but cant get out).
next, im thinking of putting a water source on the left and right forcing the mobs to get into the middle.
then having them in the center i would put Pressure Plates (idk where yet) every so far so when a creeper steps on it my Dispenser will fire arrows at it.
so how do Pressure Plates and Dispensers work and would this plan work?
I drink to forget but I always remember.

I see you have built it, and it should work.
The problem is getting monsters into it.
I built an 8-floor tower of dark rooms to spawn monsters for my trap. Too bad I slipped and a creeper blew it up.
UPDATE!
I have enabled the whitelist. I added everyone who has been connected recently. Let me know if you can't get in.
Also! Who are zait12 and moleman47?

A declaration to new journeymen in the world of Minecraft:
New Castleton, Aletsburg, Garyville, Rockopolis and Commiegrad are all incorporated nations of the Superjer Confederacy, and thus sovereign territory. They will not stand for people building snow igloos in their front yards without written consent from the landholder.
In requests for suitable landholding, Lord Atto Jeremy Wilson the III Esq. has proclaimed opening in the Landsraad toward the far north and south of New Castleton
Adventuring pioneers whom wish to contribute to the goals of the Confederacy may travel to Midway Station and Red Base beyond it, which lay many days travel to the west.
Also, on a related side note, you damn kids need to start closing door. Not only is it running up the heating bill, but creepers have a tendency to wander inside, get spoke by a pig in the window, and detonate violently. Violators will be violently cornholed by Superjer, or superholed by Cornjer. This is all.
What if Gillette WAS the best a man could get?

They're not quite as simple as LxWxH.
Each floor is 2 blocks high.
There's a 5x8 chunk of flowing water to wash the monsters out one side.
There's about 3 blocks of clearance around the water on 2 sides, held in by sign posts, because monsters don't seem to spawn in the water much.
The other side has a half-slab wall (blocks all light) with lit rooms and stairs for observation and maintenance.
