Agreed on Ratatat and Prefuse 73 ('Prefuse 73 Reads The Books' is pretty awesome, as I love The Books as well).

Oftentimes for me repetitive electronic music does the trick, especially Infected Mushroom. They don't call it Trance for nothing...

Yeah. I don't particularly care for infected mushroom, but I do listen to a lot of stuff like that. When it comes to electronica I tend to lean more towards the dub scene, but some trance-like stuff is pretty good every now and then

Kayos, you must listen to speedmetal all day if this is your chill music

I dont think Coheed and Cambria isnt speedy enough to be called speedy metal. The two songs i chose i actually like to sit down and chill too yes but songs like Welcome Home gets me pumped.

This is speedy metal. In my book.

I saw them live once, they were good, but not anything like I would have expected. They played the donkeykong country themesong as they were getting on the stage, rofl

I grew up with the first gen pokemon, and I little of the second gen. After that I have no clue what any of the pokemon are, so its not as fun to play the newer games

I also grew up with first gen... and then I waited a very long time and eventually played GSC and RSE. They were not any less fun because of the time I spent not playing Pokemon.

I mean, finding new Pokemon you haven't seen before is pretty much the most fun thing that happens in the games... why would you not like that? Did you pick squirtle in first gen, and be all like, "I LOVE THIS POKEMON!" and then step outside and hate all the rest of them because you hadn't seen them before?

Well one of the main reasons I still like playing the first games is 'cause they make me feel all nostalgia'y. Also one time I went and bought a pack of cards, and opened it up and just smelled it
Sadly, I lost all my old cards I even had a mint condition holographic charizard Hopefully they show up some day...

I never got into anything Pokemon other than the main series of games, so I can only assume that card is a good one. When I play the old Pokemon games I just cry a little, because I remembered them being good, but they're totally unplayable compared to the new ones.

Trading and battling with other people was a mess before the DS, and before Gen 3 the games had no difficult battles against NPCs at all... they're so... boring. Even the battle against Red in GSC was pretty 'meh' compared to the Battle Tower/Frontier/Whatever Post Elite Four Thing stuff. In Gen 1 and 2 it was like you have all these Pokemons... and nothing to DO with them. There's no reason to try to plan a really competitive team.

Yeah, I guess thats why you like the newer games and I don't. I was really into the cards as well as the tv series, so whenever I'm playing the game it always sparks memories of the different cards and sometimes I'll even remember specific episodes. I remember when the first pokemon movie came out and they were giving away these "ancient mew" cards, and they also had some posters and stuff that they were giving away to random people. When I went to go see it, this guy that was probably like 40 was pushing kids out of his way so he could get the poster, lmao. Sadly, he actually got it

I tried to watch the show for a few months back in junior high when it first came out but it did not click with me. It just kept annoying me that it was so pointlessly different from the games. It was visually similar, and other than that... pretty much it's own thing.

I could never figure out why a pikachu was considered the most powerful pokemon EVAR! It annoyed me to no end. I was all like, damn, even evolved into a raichu it is a below average Pokemon. Why wasn't it just a Red/Blue starter? Those are actually good. And if it needed to be a cute electric pokemon why wasn't it just a Jolteon? Jolteons are still even in Gen 4 the best electric sweeper... and literally better than a raichu (and especially a pikachu) in every way. In fact, Jolteon is easily one of the most overpowered Pokemon in the games, it eats legendaries for breakfast and then craps out actual thunder (which kills another legendary). It just deeply annoyed me that the people making the show obviously knew jack shit about the games.

Then the card game... I never even looked at it. I was just all, "Why- in the FUCK, would I play a card game when there is already a video game of the same thing." I'd already dealt with one pale imitation via the show, and I wasn't going to get suckered into a second one.

There was also a card game videogame
I actually own it.

I'm going to ignore everything people were saying about Pokemon.

I recommend that you listen to some Mogwai (Happy Songs For Happy People, or Young Team), Explosions in the Sky (All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone), or maybe old Godspeed You! Black Emperor (Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennaes to Heaven).

I don't know if that's exactly what you're after, but that's what I use to tone things down and use as background music to help me focus on working on things. The key, I think, is to avoid things with discernible lyrics, as that gets a different part of the brain firing. Some people suggest listening to Gregorian chants and the like too, and I suppose that works so long as you don't speak Latin?

Yea, as music you want to do other things to, it's better to choose songs with no vocals or at least some you don't understand. Pam-palam!

I most recently have been figuring post-rock and shizzle of that or similar kinds to be super well fitting.

Hey man, lets not get off topic. This truck is about pokemon, and here you are talking about all this music and stuff
</sarcasm>
But for real, I just looked up the bands you mentioned and they are pretty good. Strangely enough though, I do speak a little latin I've always really liked the language, so I try and learn a little bit of it here and there.

Yeah, its definitely good to have music with no vocals. I'm kinda strange though, even when there is vocals I tend to completely tune them out. People think I'm weird all the time cuz they will be like "I love this band xxx" and I'll be like "Really? xxx is one of my favorite bands!" and then one of their songs will come on and I won't know any of the lyrics and they will be like "I thought this was your favorite band?", then I look like a liar
