hmm, I think i made it so that when you touch the mushroom, you gain health back. although i could be wrong

I thought you get bigger when touching a mushroom, but there could ba something like an effect when you touch it

First, it took forever to start, then it crashed, then it killed explorer so that I couldn't even ctrl-alt-del it. I can't say it was very good.

My computer sucked less at running it, but there were some weird bugs. Like the game almost crashed when a cannon fired and hit an info box. And Mario landed in a pool of blood and just stood there and I couldn't move him. It was also louder than all hell and that kept me from further tests.

Well what might be the problem, aaronjer is that you might need a faster computer. Im running a pentium 4 so, i dont know what you are running, but it also needs direct x 8.0 or above and a windows operating system above 98. It also needs about 128 megs to run and a somewhat up to date graphics card.

Loud? Ill try to turn it down a bit next release.

What needs improving? And what are the major bugs?

Edit: Plus its unfinished.

Well, it depends on what you're going for here. I played it for a little bit longer and I think that the most glaring problem was something JMD brought up a while ago and that's clipping. Ordinarily, I wouldn't complain, but it actually makes the game less fun. I need to jump up, and there's a poison mushroom stuck bouncing around (perpetually) in the hole above me. I'm standing on top of a pipe in one of the second levels and a lakitu decides to ram me, killing himself and leaving me unable to move and on top of a pirhana plant. In the same level, I jump up to destroy a block and jump through and instead of one block being destroyed, all the blocks I touch while I'm falling are destroyed. It just makes things needlesly difficult.

Other crazy things I noticed:

Pirhana plants. They come up when you're standing on top of or next to the pipe. This may just be something you've added but eh...
Things don't move when you hit them with baseball bats, they just lie there.
Dead toad corpses sometimes continue to move. This is creepy but true, I've had a corpse follow me until I jumped over a pipe.
Coins give you health (wasn't in the file, not necessarily a bad thing).

I know, i should pay more attention to the little things...

So crappy colision detection? Ouch. Thats gonna be hard to fix. As for the blocks destroying when you fall on them, I dont know what to say. In fact im looking at the colision detection while im typing this.

Edit: Fixed. I used the same colision detection as the enemies, only reversed.

Dont know how im going to do the phrannas. Maybe a sprite index check....

Hmmm...That could be easy to fix, the bat thing. Ill do it in a minuite.

As for the coin health thing, I got that from mario 64. its supposed to be there

Later on I will post an update with all the bug fixes.

Any one else have bugs, suggestions, ect?


PS. Will remove the cloud that you stand on when you kill lakitu

NEW UPDATE. BUGS FIXED, NEW WEAPON, AND NEW WORLD AREA.

The new weapon is the flamethrower. Its totally awesome. I fixed a bunch of the bugs so it should work better.

Some of the clipping things are still there, but it's easier to play now and considerably more fun. I like ducking, ducking is a good thing, ducking makes me happy.

Couple of things I noticed:

* Hammer Bros Death Squads still don't have much of a point aside from bloody rampages.
* Mario's corpse can bounce and kill enemies. Really funny, but probably a bug.
* Burny enemy corpses are kind of annoying. They should probably go out eventually.
* Enemies (like bullet bills) can still attack you after you've hit the level ending marker.
* re: bullet bills, the cannons are all blue in places and don't show the bkrnd.
* Weapons seem to only fire when they feel like it. I'm still trying to figure this out.
* Death spotlights kill enemies. Really neat, probably a bug.
* You can't pick up the assault rifle anymore.
* I got a game over in a rain level and the rain sound did not stop when I started a new game. It may continue indefinitely.

I've never known what to call them, but the circle that has a light orb that rotates around it, damaging anything in its path. They were frequently in castle levels in Mario 3, if I remember correctly.
