what is binary you might ask. well ill tell you. binary is a code of 1's and 0'S that mean open(0) and closed (1).computer processors use transistors that are either open or closed. these transistors are used in a serious of 8 or one byte and each one is a bit. now weathere or not one of those bits is a "1 or 0" can be used to write numbers.(mabe most of you already know this.)
now how a byte makes a number is quite simple.
the bits in a byte are arranged in those numbers we all know and love.
1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128. simple right?
now lets turn a number into binary. ill take the number 99. first we must see if 128 fits into 99, well it doesnt so its a 0 like this.
128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
0
but 64 does so thats a 1
128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
0 1
so we subtract 64 from 99 and we are left with 35 . 32 fits in to 35. that leaves 3. 16 8 or 4 doesn't fit into 3 so those are 0. 2 goes into 3 thats 1. and 1 goes into 1 so thats a 1.
it should end up like this
128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
0 1 1 0 0 0 1 1
so the final binary number is 01100011. now wasn't that simple? now go tell yor mommy and daddy your new skill.

I think that there is another way of doing it.
first take the number and divide it by 2, then... wait, nevemind

I think this might help:
For mantissia
* a female mantis
www.besse.at/sms/glossary.html
* Also known as significand. The component of an IEEE floating point number consisting of an explicit or implicit leading bit to the left of its implied binary point and a fraction field to the right.
archive.stsci.edu/fits/fits_standard/node11.html
* A fixed point number composed of the most significant digits of a given floating point number. The positive decimal part of a common logarithm.
www.ccpo.odu.edu/SEES/polar/pi_gloss.htm
* the fractional part of a floating-point number.
www.cs.utexas.edu/users/novak/cs307vocab.html
* the positive fractional part of the representation of a logarithm; in the expression log 643 = 2.808 the mantissa is .808
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
For Significand:
* The part of a binary floating-point number that indicates where the number falls between two successive powers of 2. The wider the significand field in a numeric format, the more precision the format has.
developer.apple.com/documentation/mac/PPCNumerics/PPCNumerics-191.html
* The significand (also coefficient or, more informally, mantissa) is the part of a floating-point number that contains its significant digits. Depending on the interpretation of the exponent, the significand may be considered to be an integer or a fraction.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Significand
It appears that Mantissia was also used in the 1700's as the latin word for "makeweight"
Simple Googling always helps.

Oreos are cookies. The configuration involves two dry crunchy chocolate* discs with Cisco in the middle.
* 'chocolate' is used VERY loosely here.
