I don't either understand the hate on Win8. Nothing that ran when I had Win7 stopped working. Win8 has much more support for dual screens and more.

The problem is the lack of windows. Windows should have windows, or they should call it Fullscreens so we know not to buy it.

Well, there's that.

And they made the start menu look like a teenage girl's myspace page.

And the new search never finds what I'm looking for.

And it pointlessly has "categories" or some shit.

And it takes 11 minutes to recognize that I've plugged in my mouse.

And file associations default to opening annoying Metro apps from desktop mode so I can't look at a photo while reading something else, without changing the associations.

And a zillion things like that.

And it has multiple screen support but it's worse than UltraMon, which I was using before.

And I can't upgrade my graphics drivers without bricking the whole system.

And even when I try to use the Metro crap, nothing works. Like I see an interesting news story in the News tile, click it, and that story is nowhere to be found.

And the two IE's don't seem to know about each other.

Oh, and since upgrading to 8, my computer can no longer wake from hibernation.

I confess that I have not looked at a lot to do with Windows 8. I had no interest in buying it as Windows 7 works fine for my desktop and I went full Linux on my laptop when I bought an SSD at Christmas. I installed Arch onto a flash drive this afternoon too so I can Linux on my desktop without partitioning. That and, you know, carrying a Linux install with you anywhere is pretty cool.

Essentially, from what I can see, everyone thinks it is too tablet-y. Is this a legitimate concern? I don't know, not having used it, but I know that my phone's interface by-and-large annoys me. I can't see that taking principles from small, touch-screen devices massively excites me.

Nah, I just ignore the start screen and never use it, and even some of the apps like mail or social, it's way easier just to use them from the web browser.

And as for superjer, how would you know how a teenage girl's myspace page looks??

Probably from having seen a teenage girl's myspace at some point.

Yeah but superjer is quite old and I don't think that there would be any reason for him to know a teenage girl on myspace, or atleast to know enough of them to make a generalization like that.

I don't think you need to know a teenage girl to know what their social website page looks like. Common enough it is seen in various forms of media. Also we have a lot of cousins that are much younger than us, so that'd be plausible. Not that he uses myspace or facebook anyway...

Well, we do spend a lot of time with Kelli, and regardless of the many years that have passed, she is still clearly 14.

I actually like how it looks. Unfortunately it is rediculously limited though. No steam game shorcuts work because of how they're actually URL-shortcuts.

Steam shortcuts can be manually added by moving them into a specific folder, edit something to make the menu realize that they're there and last you have to restart the entire computer. A bit too many steps for me.
