I went through superjar's tutorial and everything fine except when I am creating the "mapname.bat" and putting the information in there nothing happens when I re-open it.
All the correct info is in it, and like the tutorial says edit the pre input information. I called my map "Mikey"
heres the input:
@echo off
hlcsg -nowadtextures mikey
hlbsp mikey
hlvis mikey
hlrad mikey
copy mikey.bsp "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\crxb16a2\counter-strike\cstrike\maps"
pause
"C:\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 10 -dev +sv_cheats 1 +map mikey
then I close it, save it, and double click it expecting "things" to happen and then nothing does.
Someone PLEASE help!!!

saw a problem in c:\steam\steam.exe, it was actually different but I fixed it. Changed it to C:\program files\steam\steam.exe
So everything is correct except that.

So the file is definitely a *.bat file, and not a *.txt in disguise? I can't really see anything else being an issue.

I was thinking the same, but if it were a TXT, it would open in notepad. 'Cause you said NOTHING happens...
May contain traces of invisible text.

yeah by nothing happens what do you mean ? it opens it in notepad or it actually does nothing ( no errors and such ? ) ?? if it opens it up in notepad then that means that you have file extensions checked (VERY BAD) they need to be unchecked (like the tutorial says) so if its checked then you see it as mapname.bat ,but its actually mapname.bat.txt
if you get some error or such then check if your .map file is saved, is valid and working , on the same drive as the zhtl compliers ( i put them in the same folder )
Wtf is that ? its a bird ! no its a plane ! amm maybe its a plastic bag . NO ! its SUPERJER ! the greatest super hero ever!

You may have the flashlight disabled in your server settings. mp_flashlight needs to be 1.
What are your lights like? They better not be touching walls or anything and they better have reasonable color/brightness levels.
Also check for an error from hlrad.

changed it to mp_flashlight 1, and it still didnt work.
brightless on the light (last number) is 200, and I have about 8 scattered through the map and 3 around the spawn points.
Also no errors from what I can see. Here is the stuff that comes up.
If someone doesnt see a problem maybe I can send them my map.rsf or whatever is needed to open in hammer.
Thanks in advance!!

be sure that your light entities aren't touching anything (like superjer said )it needs to bee hanging in the air for it to work
BTW: the flashlight thing happens to me to on 50% of all maps ( not just the 1 s made by me ) the flashlight doesn't work it really isn't that a big deal

Yeah I made sure they were not touching anything.
A few lights are colored light blue, the others (under spawn) are white. All are angled at 0.....I dont understand wtf'n problem is.
Will someone give me their email so I can send them my map and they can help me more 'hands on' like??
BTW the map is my first and im just screwing around so its nothing special but I would really like to figure this stuff out so I can at least make some maps.

Are you using the entity just called light?
Also, your map may be black for a different reason than no lights. Can you fire a gun?
You can also skip running hlrad and your map will come out fullbright.

Yeah I am using just light, and I also put out environtmental light or something because the lights didnt work.
When I FIRST tried the map out I could fire a gun, but was black. But currently when I try it out it wont fire or anything, I can hear my guy running around though.
Is someone willing to DL my map from me to help me find out the problem? Superjer??
What do u mean skip running hlrad? Whats that?
EDIT: When I run the map just through cs and not the .bat file I can fire a gun. I can also work the flashlight using what u said. Still no over l;ighting tho.
