My hlvis has been sitting at 40 percent for an hour now.

Why is it taking so long?

You need an elvis to make it get to 50%
If you jump high enough you'll hurt your ankles when you land.

Wow. Just wow.

I left my computer on all night, and it's only at 70 percent.

It's the LeafThread thing by the way.

Why would it be taking so long?

How many lights do you have? That's my reason.

Lights won't affect VIS, only RAD.

How big is your map and do you have any errors or warnings in the log?

Also, which version of hlvis are you using and what processor do you have.

I had one map take over a week to compile. But that was in like 1999.

I'm making this map right here:

I think it's that helicopter taking the hlvis so long. I could be wrong though.

And it's the leafThread thing that takes long.

That's a big ass sky box. Make it smaller. More space = more time to compile and more problems.

Don't create more space than you need.

Now the map won't even compile:

hlbsp: Error: Empty Solid Entity
Description: A solid entity in the map (func_wall for example) has no brushes.
Howto Fix: If using Worldcraft, do a check for problems and fix any occurences of 'Empty solid'

I checked but all of them are assigned to something.....

You need to fix the Solid entity ... is empty errors. Try clicking on one and clicking fix. Then save the map and re-open it, and check for problems again. Is it gone?

Ok....

Can you use the GO TO ERROR button to select it and delete it? It should just select the center of the map or something because there are no brushes in it.

Got it to work!

Thanks a lot.

On some, the go to error wouldn't work, So I ran through my list of entities and whatever ones didn't show up, I deleted.
