For some damned reason, I cant connect to steam on the old computer.

When I first run steam, it gives me the generic "Could not connect to steam" Error.

Occasionally it gives me a regular error that states "Steam Main Excerption: Error 200(Or 500, something like that) Connection closed by peer". Sometimes it opens the update box and the bar dosen't move.
I'm using a D-Link 614+ Router, and I can connect with another computer that uses it.

I had HLDS installed, but I deleted the folder, and I think that may be causing it.

Reinstalling Steam shouldn't affect your games. You can move all your gcache files (back them up) and then reinstall Steam and then move them back if you want to play it safe.

It didn't last time I uninstalled Steam. But you know how steam mutates every 3 days soo...

If I were you I'd move all the files somwhere safe, uninstall steam, reinstall, move them back.

I reinstalled it, and its still giving me the same Could not connect to Steam message. :(

I do have a router though, a DI-614+. Could that be causing it?

That's not even possible, no worries there. I think Nezumi found their office in Bellevue one time, you could go in guns blazing or something... that IS the only language they understand.
