problem with extensions.....help!!!

i'm using windows xp....and i gt my map made.....the zhlt thingy extracted,but its nt coming out like its shown in the tutorial....i'm nt getting the .exe extensions........i've unchecked teh hide xtensions thing like it says bt the box keeps cheking itself.....as soon as i press ok .....nuthng happens then i open the 'view' thing agn and the box is cheked.... what shud i do?

You don't need to change any extensions. Just start up Notepad, write the content of your bat-file then go "File"--->"Save as..." and make sure "Save as type" is set to "All Files", then just give it a name that ends with .bat and save it down where you have your compiling tools.

alrite new problem:

i gt my .map file and i ran it......a windows promp shows up asking me which program i'd like to run it with. i choose all four of my .exe files one by one and i gt a .bsp file.....bt the 'press any key to continue' thing dusnt happen.......what now?

You aren't supposed to select the EXE files one by one. Post the content of your BAT file.

it should be
"hl.exe" -game cstrike +quit

They don't run simultaneously, they run one at a time. The .bat-file you posted was incorrect, remove the first line("Without Steam") save it down again and try to run it.

(Also, remember that both your .map-file and .bat-file must be in the same folder as your compiling tools)

alright i worked around the prob by gtng the .bat file frm a frnds comp.......thnx a mil fr awl ur help guys.
