Because basically if you are saying "wont" then you are probably saying "as they are wont do" or missing out an apostrophe in the contracted form of will not (which now that I stop and think about it does not make a large amount of sense).

We're SUPPOSED to all spell the same! That's the whole point of having a language. You know, for communication... so we can understand each other? When people write in a way that isn't proper English it just makes everything harder.
