It's a reward for doing something. Or just for asking for a title. You also get them if you are main actor in some memorable event, this happens mostly against ones will though.

Asking for a medal usually results in no response. However, in some rare cases Havokk has ended up with that embarrassing abomination of a medal. If someone is totally awesome, and they ask for a really weird medal, they'll usually get it. Like in the case of Molk's sausage medal.

What I said didn't negate the possibility that you're totally awesome. I said that if someone was totally awesome AND asked for a really weird medal they'd get it. Meaning all I said is that you haven't been awesome and asked for a really weird medal simultaneously. It could mean you're not awesome or that you've never asked for a really weird medal or both. Did you ever stop to consider that you might be awesome, and that you simply haven't asked for a weird enough medal?
