So the government is at it again, always trying to gain more power than they should have. I'm sure everyone is aware of the situation in Egypt, and how their government completely shut down their internet... well, now the US government is trying to get the power to do the exact same thing.

Exact same reason Egypt's government had it. If there's ever a situation where the people rebel against the government, they want to be able to take down as many forms of communication as possible so that they have the upper hand.
Honestly I think most of the sheeple here in the US would be too scared to stand up against the government anyway, but if a day comes when it does happen, I definitely will want access to the internet (and phone).
