Hi there, I'm totally new to this, and as a big CS fan, I came up with an idea of a map on which even 40-50 ppl can play easily. It's gonna have all three of the mods..hostage rescue bomb defusing and VIP rescue. It's gonna have two main buildings, and a big enough courtyard. The CS will land in the courtyard, but the VIP will start at a different point in the smaller building (I thought of a factory), being closed somewhere where he could only get out if somebody pushed an outdoor button. so the first thing will be who will get to him first. Secondly, the terrorists will be in 2nd of 11 floors in the tall building. they will have to plant a bomb at the last floor (the 11th) where also in three different chambers there will be 9 hostages. The hostage and VIP rescue helicopter will be on top of the building. Or the bomb could be placed in an underground parking lot, and if the bomb blows the building will fall...and so will the hostages die... the winner team will be the one that accomplishes two out of three or three out of three. if you are interested contact cf_philippe@yahoo.com mail/messenger or usk4bal@gmail.com. First of all, you're in the wrong section. This should be in the Hammer Mapping section.
On to the map...
I won't even list the reasons why the map will not work. If you want to try making it, be my guest.

I told you...I'm new to this..and I'm certain this can be made to work..I mean...I have seen such "giant maps on some servers in my country...but still it would be great and realistic

I'd scale down your ideas. Both Source and 1.6 have small maps as a general rule. For that size you'd need to look at Crysis or Far Cry 2 (they both have large open maps, generally speaking, I think).

as dimensions, it wouldn't be larger than de_dust from the cs respawn and the t respawn for that matter...but the big one would be the tall building...i just need some guidance...by the way..isn't there any map creator that resembles the "building mode" in SIMS...it would make a world of a difference...

And as for 50 players... you can edit the source code into allowing more. There is a server in Romania that has 72...but you have to join a certain site buy paying an amount of money...so I left that one for other ppl.

Ah I see. Yes, if you know coding then it would be possible.
I saw a server yesterday that had (or supposedly had) 256 max players and was full I don't know who would play cs 128 vs 128 though
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

u cant edit the source code dude, firstly wat about spawning, and the server cant hold that much ppl

SRAW - there are several source files available as part of the SDK for modmaking. Essentially it's no longer CS 1.6, it's CS 1.6 with too many players.
