It sounds like something out of a horror movie, but yes, I'm afraid its true.

(By the way, IGA is the same service who provides ads in Battlefield 2142.)

This is not good at all. First battlefield, now CS, whats next? Halo? GTA? Half-Life? Sounds like advertisements might become standerd in games.

Like I said, I dont have much of a problem with it if they impliment it well, and there is no spyware. Only increases the realism. However, I know that some idiotic company is going to ruin an awesome franchise with the crap, having 50 million pepsi ads in a underground cave, for example. Thats not even counting the companys that are gonna put spyware crap in it.

Thank EA for starting it.

EDIT: I found where they are going to place the ads ingame.

Quote:
Doug Lombardi: The current plan is to put ads in a few different places. There will be some ads posted on walls in the game world, an ad on the scoreboard screen, and one in the letterboxed area of Spectator mode.

This is horrible, valve should do it to cs:s first, but ricochet would be the best. Im fine with the ads aslong as 1.6 doesnt get dynamic weapon pricing.

Its only a matter of time before all games begin to have some form of ads/spyware bundled with it. Hopefully that game that CAL/CPL is developing wont have this crap.

Thanks to the power of Steam, Valve can seamlessly destroy everything we ever held dear about our favorite not-even-originally-developed-by-Valve games.

YAY!!

It's sad that valve gives people the right to make mods and stuff and even provides the tools and then, in case one is succesful, they take it back and make profit out of it.
