Ok, we are setting up a Counter Strike 1.6 server. I wanted to use WinSCP to update fastdl, add new maps, etc. It is too much hassle to login remotely to the rig.

Do I have to have anything running on my server to enable WinSCP? How do I add user accounts? Does it work on Unix machines?

On most GUI'd *nix machines you don't need a special program.

Just edit the address bar in any folder like:

sftp://superjer.com/

SCP/SFTP use the system user accounts.

On cmdline use "useradd" or "adduser". Set the new user's password with "passwd username".

With GUI there should be something to click on. In Gnome it's probably: System->Administration->Users and Groups

SCP/SFTP use the system user accounts.
