So you can search by pressing on the address bar and typing in what you want, and normally when I do it, it will search google, but now all the searches are going to this weird chinese site www.baidu.com

Help please

Reinstall Windows.
Seriously... just do it. Back up your files and reinstall that shit.

Changing your homepage will be a temporary solution to it, but there's still something that ended up changing the homepage to begin with, likely a virus, which you need to get rid of... and the easiest way to do that, is to reinstall Windows.

Plus Windows has a pretty bad habit of building up all this shit that you don't need, so a fresh install would surely make your comp run better too :D

If it happens again, in about:config there is a value called keyword.url or similar. That is what tells Firefox to search Google, or indeed any engine of your choice.

I use Chrome now, on this machine at least.

I'm 50% Scottish. I guess that explains this red beard.

I did that, but it would still keep on resetting to that weird chinese website, but as I said it's fixed now as youtube downloader caused it so I just uninstalled it.

Hairy muff. They've actually changed it in the recent versions of Firefox, effectively when you type something in the bar it always searches rather than taking you to the most probable result. Infuriating! Particularly as they did it silently. I thought it was some kind of regression.

I have to say, I am not at all on board with the way FF is actually going. Chrome ain't much better though, I mean, with Firefox I can fix, customise and "addon", but Chrome is much tougher in that respect.

I like it when my browser plays hard to get. And the toughness translates to endurance, which only improves the experience when you finally catch it.
