i am a noob at creating maps and i made one and loaded it. it got to the part where it says hit any key to continue. every thing else was fine i checked it. and when i hit a key the window goes away and nothing happens plz help!!!
when you do that is steam on/is counter-strike already on as well? cause if counter-strike is on it doesnt load its already in the list of maps that you have, but when steam is on and counter-strike isnt on, counter-strike will load with you map automatically

Look in the folder where your compiler is at. Your map should be in there and should me called "mapname".bsp. Copy that file to your maps folder in the counter strike directory. When you do that you can now start the game and choose your map from "New Server".

Are you trying to make a map for SOURCE? It's different from 1.6.
