Yeah so it's a year old and stuff but I still think it's really cool :D
I have been mucking around with the code. I think I get parts of it- apart from how it decides to do the 'shiny' bits, i.e. the spheres and the large block (which I commented out, I wasn't keen on it). So, basically I'm wondering how it does this, if anyone knows. Looking at Superjer, or rather the space where he was :P

The test images are pretty awesome. I'd like to see that work-in-progress code...

OK, link to an image I made after some not-too-in-depth editing:

Photobucket!

I have other ones but I'll have to resize them, probably. Even though these things compress well with png they still are 2560x1600...

Actually, it accepted this one too. And resized it horribly; I'll reupload it later.

I like that one, cause every block is a shade of grey- there are no coloured parts to it. It made me feel very cool working out how to get that done (even though it is dead simple and obvious and stuff)

Have you guys tried making any? It's dead simple! Try running it from the command line like

pixelmachine -w800 -h600 -m4 1388563469

This will render an 800*600 picture with a decent level of multisampling to make it look nice and with a random seed that I pulled oot me arse, to be coarse.

Nice, I'm working on writing my own Ray Tracer so I can actually understand the math behind it. :D

I like the ones superjer has more, I tried to figure out how to get a sphere on to of every stack, to no avail. :( That would be sweet!

If the blocks had texture it would look a million times more amazing, and some optimization would be nice!

Anyways back to work for me.

Sounds like your coding skill is beyond me, I don't think I'd ever be able to write a raytracer...

I guess if you're interested this website is developing a raytracer. It's horribly complicated and I hardly understand most of it but it's entirely open-source so the code is there should you want a look.
