ok I've gone thru every tutoral i could find to build ladders and i cant get it what am i doing wrong whats the best way to do it

there is a tutorial on this site on how to build a ladder. just go to the main one and go down to advanced stuff. its at the bottom there.

when i try to put all three of them together i get errors from overlapping two of them

i am also confused(pleez understand tht i am a toal hammer n00b rite now):

the ladder tutorial says to that the "visable part" is supposed to be "func_illusionary", that "rendermode=solid", and "renderamt=255"

it says that the "climby part" is supposed to be "func_ladder"

now, im new at this, and idk how to set the "func_...." stuff, the "rendermode", or the "renderamt"

if some1 cud tell me how to set this stuff, i wud be very appreciative

hey u60n0 ok when you click on the brush you just put down hold crl and press T thats how you set the function

Ctrl + T to make a brush an entity

Alt + Enter to see an entityes properties , and also change them

and the layers DON'T HAVE TO BE OVERLAYING / OVERLAYING ( or whatever word that describes them to be put in the same space ) !

you need to put them one on top of the other ...

1 the " climby part " wich is a func_ladder (this is a surface that a player can climb on )

2 the " visible part " wich is a func_ illusionary ( a func_illusionary , like its name says , is an illusion , you can walk straight trough it , its not solid )

3 the layer that stops players but lets you shoot trough it
it is a normal brush that you put the " Clip " texture on ( found in zhtl.wad , halflife.wad )
( the clip texture makes a normal brush completely invisible , and it will stop players like a normal wall , but will allow you to shoot/trow grenades trough it)

now thats an explination for you
