I just upgraded (or am in the process of upgrading, some stuff hasn't arrived yet) my parents' computer to make it a bit more gameworthy and it only cost me about $200, if that's the currency you work in. And this is for one that is roughly three years old.

I think I still have an 2.6 Ghz AM2 dual-core processor laying around somewhere. I don't have a motherboard for it, but you can get AM2 motherboards for $20. That would probably make the rest of the computer potentially more expensive, though. You'd need newer ram, and would have no choice but to get a PCI-E graphics card. However, I'm planning on buying an 8800 GT soon, so you could have my old 8800 GTS.

I have a PCI-E mobo and such things. Currently, if you're really interested, I have an ATi X600, a Pentium 4 HT 3.0 GHz and 3 GB 533 MHz DDR2 RAM. After my crap arrives I'll have an Intel E2200 and an ATi X1650.

Nah, I was just telling you that I already have a good enough Motherboard for what I need. If anyone really really wanted the card and processor I'd send them it for free so long as they paid the p&p. It isn't that great stuff though... It can manage the Episode 1 Source engine very well, Episode 2 not so much.
