Hello, I have a dell dimension 3000 (grey front and black sides) and I installed CS:S. I thought I was sure I had the system requirements but It turns out I dont. When I try to launch the window comes up saying that its not good to run the game cause I dont have the requirements. (btw I always play 1.6) I thought I was supposed to download the latest driver, whatever those are, So I went to the site n downloaded but I ran the Graphics accelerater and it says I cant run it on the system.

The main issue is the intel graphics card. Actually even calling it a graphics card is overselling it a bit there. If you buy a PCI-e card on the internet (I'd recommend nVidia but whatever floats your boat) that should be your main performance bottleneck at the moment... I'd need to see all your system properties at the moment to be sure though.

Ok well I can the rest of my comp can meet the requirements, except the video card.

CS:S Preffered Specs:
2.4 GHz Processor
512MB RAM
DirectX 9 capable graphics card
Windows 2000/XP/ME/98
Mouse
Keyboard
Internet Connection

I have:
2.66GHz processor
512MB RAM
DirectX 9 capable graphics card
Windows 2000/XP/ME/98
Mouse
Keyboard
Internet Connection

and also an Intel Celeron........... But I had my computer repaired and the guy said I dont have a video card slot or something. Thanks

Oddly enough when graphics card manufacturers say they have DX 9 compatible cards they are in fact lying through their teeth; as such I'd need to know the make and model. However for the moment you could try right-clicking on the game in steam, then 'properties'. In this menu click 'set launch options' (it should be something like that) and type:

-dxlevel 80

Just as you see it there. That managed to get CS:S running on this at an impressive 12 fps average! Which is not good. You, having a desktop rather than a laptop, should fare better. But no promises. ;)

Also you can try altering the in-game options to pretty much the lowest settings available; I'm talking about lowest model quality, no water reflections, lowest resolution (640x480) etc.

Yeah, that's it. In all likelihood that is causing your problems. When Intel say that it's DX9 compatible really they're bending the truth, but on a General Relativity scale :D

So as I said, the -dxlevel 80 path is probably your best bet. Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, it's the link to the intel stuff. Armen could you edit the post to be like

[ url=yourlinkhere ]intel drivers[ /url ]

As that would bring the page back to normal size. (Obviously without the spaces.)

And why wouldn't one want to do that?

Actually thinking about it do I still have that game on here. Hilariously it often fails to work. My sister installed it because I want- NEEDED Team Fortress 2.
