I was makin a small map real quick on valve hammer editor, but then i go to click on the 3D view with the selection tool to try and select a peice, and it doesn't work!

I also tried adding Point-entities with the 3D view, and they didnt work either.

EDIT::

I need help installing .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0!

When i'm going through the installation, i get an error saying this:

Error 25015.Failed to install assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Famework\v2.0.5727\Microsoft.VisualBasic.Vsa.dll' because of system error.

This problem is pretty common, and I never heard of anyone fixing it... Sorry.

You have an ATI graphic card? ATI is known for their shitty drivers.

If you have an ATI-card; try some different drivers.

ATi have really poor support for OpenGL. I only mention this because in a 3D program I use that uses the function for selecting vertices it's so buggy that it takes about 5 seconds. When it should take only a few cycles on the card.

I'm getting an nVidia.

Depends which card you have, friend. For instance, I have an ATi RADEON x600 on Windows XP Home edition. So I go Windows XP Home edition->RADEON->x600 and all becomes better in the drivers. Apart from the OpenGL select thing, but you know.

DJchul3l3y is an idiot.

Right-click My Computer-> Properties-> Hardware-> Device manager.

That should open a list of all the devices your computer has installed.

You can't do that, anyway. If you don't believe me try it for yourself (I am suggesting DJIamboredoftryingtoreadhisnamealready has a go, not anyone else).

Look under "integrated". It's there.

I got the 300M one.. I can get into the Control panel so im happy..

My control panel settings got reset to defaults. I need very bad 3D quality so i get higher FPS. Which i can change on my control panel..

So im happy.. ill just learn to click on 2D views for selecting, and placing point-entities..

But if you get the wrong ones it won't work! I can't comment on how similar the drivers will be between models (it is kinda complicated AFAIK and depends on which ones are made and blah) but using (potentially) the wrong driver type can lead to bad performance, faults, overheating and perhaps even damage. Am I right in saying you're on a laptop? I'm guessing. Second thoughts you might not be. But seriously, go get the right ones! It's not hard :p

And if you get the right ones, who knows, maybe your 3D viewport will work again.

Do you have your camera view pointed in the right direction?
Change to Camera Tool, click the 3D view and move your mouse around. Look for things...
