yea i extracted them like it said in the tutorial

ZHLT opens up as a folder right., cuz i downloaded of the instruction site bu superjer and when i open its a folder with files in which, some are two of my maps which when i double click on my map files in ZHLT one is a MAP file and the other is a MAX file, for example, one looks like random.map and the oher is random.max. the map one when double clicked opens up like this in notepad {

and the max file when double clicked ssays windows cannot open this file blah blah blah what do you want to do .use web or select a program to open it so i select note pad and it opens up just like the map file

i tried opening in valve hammer, and just in the folder. nothing happened in folder except opening up text's
but when i opened in hammer i got all that big stuff and got 3 errors which are listed above. i need to know how to fix the errors ( invalid arguement, and 2 files the system cant find or somthing)

when running my map through hammer because trying to run by click mapname.bat in folder dosnt work, i get three pop ups asking if i want to continue and i say yes and it keeps going . the three errors where, "invalid arguement" and "the system can not find the file specified"

i think i have my map done and everything right
so i tried to open by double clickin in the folder on mapname.bat and just on mapname
and for mapname.bat the note pad thing i wrote the stuff about steam and all that. then for mapname something like this opened up but waay longer

i think one of my main problems when making a map is step 6 or 7 i think. it says go to folder options and make sure that hide something isnt checked or what ever. how do i get to folder options ive tried everyithng. after that i think i might get a little better because i think im doing the map making right just not the complex saving, and al the files n shit

how do i get extensions showing in explorer
and how to i get the map to not be a BAT file

okaay i got rid of the first part of read me.
but as i tried again the same thing happened
i double click and it opens as a read me file in notepad but one says its a MAP file other says MAX file??
also, for i think step six, when i exported them, they were still just the files
like the ones called stuff like hlbsp and other things are called applications and not exe. or whatever. it said i have to go to tools>options and turn of something but icant find it.
is the file called mapname.bat supposed to be a text file

i am on a vista computer
i did all the steps pretty good i think.
until i got to step 6 and 7
i got kinda lost
i exported files in zhlt to the file it said
but they didnt say .exe or .text at the end
only one said .wad at the end
also.
i need help on the read me .
do we do both no steam and steam. or just one
ALSO how do i run it.
i tried through valve hammer and a little window popped up i said okay then another window popped up and it said compile process window and some other stuff
so i am so effing lost. i really need help. i have the whole map building down.(kinda, but ill problay need help with building better after i figure out how to make it a map) SO PLEASE help me
