no, i dont hear the hard drive making any noise

im compiling with settings at normal, and hdr off.
my pc is only amd athlon 2000+ but i compiled a bigger map (about 3 times bigger) with a hell of a lot more details in about 6month ago and it only took about 3-4 hours to compile.
in my new one ive done as much possible to keep it tidy (i.e. make the sky box as small as possible etc) but compile times seem massive for such a small map compared to the much larger one ive done b4.......
is there an alternative programme for compiling or should i just be more patient and leave it to compile overnight or something?

hi, are there any programmes out there what are faster than hammer at compiling a .vmf into .bsp?
the reason im asking is because i have modified a FY map (for myself only) by putting a couple of extensions on it.
its not a big map, but compile times are fookin massive!
i havnt compiled it once completely yet, coz after about 7 hours i get pissed off and end process in task manager.
plz help

laggy :( in Hammer Mapping
i used vmex to convert the original .bsp to .vmf, and valve hammer editor to build the extension. i have just looked at the compile txt and seen that it has leaked, but me being a noob i dont know how to find/fix it.
it says -

errrr....sorry but i have to disagree with you all there.
a few of my friends had 1.6 and i played on it and thought it was great.
so great that i asked my girfriend to buy it for me while i was at work and didnt have the time to go get it myself.
i returned home after a long days work only to find that she bought me half life 2 with cs:source. as annoyed as i was i still installed it, picked a server playing de_dust and fell in love.
i phoned my mates and told them but they just said `its shit compared to 1.6`. a few days later one of my friends came round and had a go of cs:s which led to him buying it and showing the other 1.6 players just how out of date and ugly 1.6 is, leading to them buying it.
steam sucks, but 1.6 versus source is like sega mega drive versus xbox 360

laggy :( in Hammer Mapping
hi dudes,
ive just made an extension to an allready exsisting cs:s map (its my first go at mapping so i thought it would be easier than starting from scratch) and it is completed, but when i run the map with bots, (6 or more) it runs really laggy and slow. it seems fine with just me and a few bots but when i add more than 5-6 bots it runs so crap it is un-playable.
i used the default .nav creator (by just playing the .bsp on `create own server`) and was wondering if that is the problem.
any help will be very much appreciated.
