The reason it looks wrong is cuz eh missile/meteor is coming in from the left and also looks like it might be moving towards the screen a little too, but then the particles from the text go straight up. So either have the particles move to the right or have the missile come in from the front or the back.

Also, what would look really cool is if the rock comes in from the left, then turns right and goes straight towards the camera so it hits the text dead on.

I was thinking more like this...
Also I tried to illustrate the explosion a little. If you have the particles also grow larger in time, it will make it look like they are coming towards you instead of just straight up (which will make sense if the missile is coming in from the back.)
