Hey I am almost done, I have got my map completed and all of that I just tried to do that one step where you make mapname.bat text file in notepad, but when i type it all in and save and quit, it says to double click on that file again, but no "Lot's of confusing stuff" happens, it just pops back up into notepad. I typed it all in correctly, the only thing i can think is that I have counter strike source and not regular counter strike, but should that matter? Also I have half life deathmatch and half life 2 deathmatch as well...help?

Did you save it as *.txt or *.bat?

It could be that you do not have file extensions unhidden. This means that secretly your file will be called YourMapName.bat.txt which is not what you want. Enable file extensions and rename it properly.

You know, Linux doesn't have these problems.

Yes, you should.

Tools then folder options then in the last tab there scroll down until you see "Hide extensions for known filetypes". Uncheck that box and press OK. I did take this from the "Section 7 compile and play" by the way. Read more closely in future.

That's two completly different games. The guide on this site was made for CS 1.6, NOT Source.

You'll need to get Hammer 4 plus tutorials for it if you want to map for CS:Source

Yes they are (probably) quite similar. All we're saying is: for Source maps use the tools in the Source SDK; otherwise, hit the ZHLT and Hammer 3.whatever.
