I want to install a server on the C: drive, but for some reason, its not letting me. I'm running windows off the D: drive, and I want to format the C:, yet when I rightclick it off the My Computer box, it says, and right before I finish too, "Windows could not complete the format". WHY?!?

I use my Seagate SeaTools boot CD for stuff like formatting. Or sometimes a Windows/Linux install/boot CD. Any kind.

If Windows won't format it, though, there might be something wrong with the drive. Also, it could be the boot drive.

Unplug it and see if your computer still boots.

Ok, so it is the boot drive, infact all C: drives are boot drives for windows. So now I'm wondering, how do I make the D: drive become the boot drive?

EDIT: Scratch all that out. Apparently my comp is two partitions(c: and d:) on a single hard disk. How would I delete the C: drive partition?

Start->Run->"compmgmt.msc"->Storage->Disk Management

will let you manage your partitions... but are you sure you want to delete the partition? Why?

All I want to do is completely erase the C: partition and replace it with linux.

It is possible to dual boot from 2 partitions on the same drive, but I would NOT recommend it.

You should have a separate drive for each OS instead. It is much easier and safer.

Also, depending on your setup, it may not be possible to install Linux on your "C:" drive.
