sorry guys i am a n00b and in need of some help. i know my problem is going to be something really stupid so please bare with me.i have followed your guide to the letter 3 times. but cannot get the map to load. using hammer and creating the box room is simple. i save it fine, but it seems when doing the mapname.bat bit i have a problem (or in my case box_room_tester.bat) , i put everything into notepad (box_room_tester.bat) that is required, changing relivent names for map, and currect file locations, but when i save and come out. then try to go back in i get NO console, your guide does show to go BACK in to .bat file right???. i just get the same notepad., i would insert an image or 2 to help understand what it is im going on about. and what i have in my file already. but the {img}http etc etc confusses me (easily done). i knew these n00b quistions are a constent thorn in your side so appoligies
p.s, i tried the "search" as your stickies suggested, but couldn't find this quiry

ah good, i didn't follow this part of the guide as the "EXE" and "txt" files WAS visable, so didn't change anything, should have checked the tools etc anyway i guess. ok now for an even MORE stupid question, my map has now loaded, console showed no "err" bit so loaded fine, however i then found out i stupidly followed a guide for CS 1.6, and i've only got source, is it possible to just download different compiler and change config in hammer, and still make maps for source?? otherwise it's just been a big fat waste of my time :(

youll be glad to know that when you start up SDK, you get to choose which game to make, i think theres hl2, hl2:dm and cs:s so when you see that it will automatically set up everything...

config on hammer is a nightmare, going from the guide,,, what do i do differant to be sure it's set up as CS:S ?
