What do you get when you try to run it?

you have to save it as a .bat file as it says in the tut.
In the notepad go under Save as, change type to all types and under name write Map.bat then save.
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

Ok, so you saved it as a TXT-file. Open it in notepad, go to File-> Save as...

Name - mapname.bat
Type - All file types

Now when you name the file the the BAT ending, it will actually be a BAT-file.

What icon does it show beside this file in the folder where your file is located? A notepad icon?
If so then you probably didn't save it correctly.
Try this:
go under folder options and uncheck the hide file extensions. Then see whether the file has a .txt or a .bat at the end of the name. If it has a .txt change it to .bat and run it.
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

Right I've checked the properties

It is a txt.file

But it needs a program to open with for me to change the actuall file type instead of just simply adding a new name to it

Are you sure you saved as eDan told you in the notepad (you MUST select all types under type, otherwise it will save it as a .txt. Also you have to write .bat at the end of the name)?

Try doing the whole thing again. Make a file, call it what name you want for your map.bat and then right-click, edit and write it in. Please don't get pissed that you already knew it. I'm a noob. I'm just trying to help.
You say "pls", because it is shorter then "please", I say "no" because it is shorter than "yes".

OK.
Open the folder in which your file is located. Do the file extensions of all the files in the folder show (like .exe, .bat, .txt...)?
If they don't then try to find something similar to (this is in XP):
Tools->Folder Options->View->Hide extensions for known file types
Uncheck this.

Then click on the file in the folder, press F2 and try renaming it to Map.bat. If it asks you if you really want to change the name, because the file could become unusable blah blah blah click yes.
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.
