Well, it would have to be a func_tracktrain in order to follow path_tracks. And a func_ has to be brushes, not sprites.
I don't think you can do it with sprites.
You can probably do it with a brush, with a sprite-looking texture on it. You can even use RenderMode=additive, for example. But I don't know if that'll work for you....
