i took a bsp map and decompiled it over to a .map. Then i opened it up, added spawn points and compiled it up again and get that error.

Decompiling maps is never fun. 90% of the time (perhaps more) maps that have been decompiled will steadfastly refuse to recompile. If you manage to find the textures, it might work. But decompiling is generally only used to see what the structure of the map is and stuff.

how do you edit a map then? I need to add spawn points to one map, and on another, i need to take away weapons that it give yous start of round. I need to edit the entities.

amm why do you " need " to edit them ???

are there your maps ? ( probably not )
if yes then you should still have the .map file ( <-just spam )

but you should NEVER try to recomply a decompiled map !
its just to complicated ...and the program was designed only to view maps in hammer to see how it woks ... if you want to edit a map then you better of making a new one or at least re-texturing and re-making most of the brushes in the decompiled map

and anyway you would just be remaking someone else's work
Wtf is that ? its a bird ! no its a plane ! amm maybe its a plastic bag . NO ! its SUPERJER ! the greatest super hero ever!

You can edit a maps entities without decompiling but its a bit hard. For this you use a program called ripent which comes along with the latest version of ZHLT. You can read more here: http://www.joe.to/cstrike/ents/

thanks killer duck, that helps a lot :)
The ripent link doesn't work though, do you by chance have it or know another link that works?
