Tanks aren't so bad if there's a window to lure them through. They get lodged in 'em and you can all unload a whole clip in his face.

Witches... however... Jesus fucking christ... I really hate it when they spawn somewhere that makes it impossible to avoid aggravating them.

Have you played Expert yet? Witches instantly kill you (not just knocked down, you're just dead) if they even touch you. It's terrifying.

Well with the demo I had breezed through on Normal, thought I was pretty hardcore, then tried expert. I didn't even get to the witch. I think the bit with the car alarms happened... A tank dropped on us as one of us was set upon by a hunter while a second member of the team had a smoker's attentions. In fact even going out of the house I was fucked. A smoker pulled me towards the big set of stairs down and out of the house; then a hunter jumped on me. My teammates helpfully blasted them but I was then thrown up on by a boomer. I am very very scared of Expert.

The whole taking 10 times as much damage from most attacks thing does make the game considerably scarier. As if Special Infected didn't kill you fast enough as it was, now the regular infected can drop you in a couple of seconds...

The funniest way I've died so far has been getting punched right off the roof of the hospital by a Tank about 30 seconds before getting in the helicopter. Since then I've learned to never, ever, EVER leave the supply room while Tank music is playing. You never know when you're going to get punted right outta town.

Also... no matter how much the achievements might imply it... lighting a witch on fire is NOT in fact a good idea.

In several playthroughs I have attempted to headshot the witch. She just gets angry. Have you tried online? I've always been really busy and so haven't wanted to join one then have to leave. And how about versus mode?

The Witch headshot achievement is very uninforming. What you have to do is aggravate her first, and then shoot her in the head at point-blank range with either shotgun. This works much better if she is attacking someone else, because you can just stick the barrel up against the back of her head and fire. It ONLY works with shotguns.

I've played with SuperJer and some other people in friend games, and I've also played with random people online. The random people are commonly very stupid, and tend to get the entire team killed with their very stupidness. It's actually more fun that way, because it gets so damn hectic when all the sudden you realize some idiot ran off like 250 feet on his own and got pounced by a hunter... and now you have to see if you can race over there and save him in time. Random online people tend to panic and run away, break formation at the worst time, and fail to enter the safe house when everyone else is already in there and waiting for them. But like I said, it's MORE fun that way... because pulling off some serious ninja stunts and saving a guy from a horde, a hunter, a smoker and a second boomer initiated horde all on your own is totally awesome. Right outside the pawn shop in the first campaign the guy playing Louis was just standing in the street firing randomly at Infected when the other two were already in the safe house. Before I could yell "WTF ARE YOU DOING" over the mic he was already being dragged off by a smoker. With foolish bravery I charged out to save him, punching a hunter in mid-pounce in the process... I shot the smoker's head off on the roof, threw down a Molotov to keep the horde away for a moment and had to help him up and dump pills in him to keep him alive long enough to get inside. That was when the boomer vomited on both of us... I couldn't believe we both made it back to the safe house. those other two assholes didn't help at all, they just sat around touching themselves I guess. Oh, also I yelled "RUN, YOU FOOL!" as the boomer horde was approaching. Which was rad.

Anyway... it was unbelievably fun.

Wow i was just about to post something on L4D.Seeing that it as made by Valve,the makers of CS and HL.

I find it much fun to be with your friends and just kill swarms of zombies.Knowing that everything is not the same and its all totally unexpected.really id give it a 10 out of 10 for fun as hell.Me and my brother is ganna play online later when my sis is gone so i wont lag.

My first time meeting the witch i shot her on purpose and i died horribly.but now i kinda have a fear just to hear her and be in a dark room and look around with my light and shine it righ on her and watch her fly at my screen.

Tanks are badass.But they can be beaten easily when the 4 gang up on it.

It took me and my bro with some other ppl over and hour or two just to beat No mercy with everyone alive.waiting on the Helicopter was kinda hard.we all had to hide in the closet and just shoot at the door.which before we was on the roof with the turret.

I was also thrown off the Mercy Hospital by a tank.Funny shit.

But i say if your ganna play online.PLAY WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE A MIC!!Damn its annoying if they dont.No fun at all.I havent had a chance to play expert.By your tales i dont wanna.So im just doing Normal mode at the moment.I'll eventually do expert cause this is a early Christmas present so it will be done.Ive never tried lighting the witch on fire but i got an achievement for lighting up a tank with a Molotov.


I'm not quite sure.Im saving that till ive beaten the campaigns

Wish you guys could play with 360 users.

Also, AJ, your story is awesome. I think I'd hate to play with 'tards. Saying that if you fancy playing with some more decent folk then check out the Rock, Paper Shotgun steam group. There are a fair few Americans on there so you need not worry about latency.

I played the Xbox version of CS and Valve was on it.Either way it had something to do with CS.

I just finished all the campaigns but i need to re-do Death Toll or w/e cause when the boat came i got on with 2 others but the other guy was being molested by a hunter on the dock and i went to save his ass (as well as the others) and i end up getting wrapped by the tounge of a smoker and then pinned down by a hunter.I ended up dieing but they saved the others guys ass.So i didn't get the achievement for surviving.

I do like how the achievements are going.I burned a witch and got one.I also shot a Hunter in the head while it was leaping at me.even got one to go save the pretty bitch zoey after i had entered the safe house.

I'm probably never going to get the "leave safe house and save somebody" one... because I never go into the safe house until everyone is already safe or dead.

Oh... and adhesive/havokk. Valve ALSO didn't make L4D. The Turtlerock made the L4D. Valve just bought them.

Oh, and in Versus mode... even when all 4 people gang up the tank usually offs a couple people. Because you as the player can have the intelligence to wait just around the corner for some poor bastard to wander into your loving meat hammers. Tanks also tend to switch targets a lot when they're computer controlled, making them much less dangerous.

AND GOD DAMMIT HAVOKK! Stop playing the shitty console version of FPSs! It completely ruins the fun of it! Get the real version before I have to rape you!

The way I heard it, Turtlerock had licensed Source for use in what was to become L4D. The studio started to go under so Valve waved a large cheque at them; they now are owned by Valve and I think there were more than a few Valve staff working on L4D. Though very technically they're all Valve staff.

I just got done playing versus.Its the shit.

well i could talk about versus mode now because i was busy earlier(^^^ up there).But i had 2 long ass paragraphs and still more to come on it and i was fixing a word and the word was over "Forums"(by the way i right clicked it so the list of spell check thingies came up over it) and my mouse likes to double-click itself and clicked it making me lose it all.So fuck that.I'll tell you guys later when i feel like typing all that again..

I beat all of them offline before playing online and it achieved me just fine. I think that you just have to play from start to finish in one sitting through the campaign (possibly without going idle) to get the mo'chievement.

Oh, and we plan to violate Satan between the 29th and the 4th. That may seem like a long time, but we're going for Ultra-Rape on this one.
