and i read the google ones and i tried them and it still didn't work

you just need to put cstrike.wad in your NEW /cstrike folder, the steam one, not the old one. just copy it.

i have the same problem

but i have cstrike.wad in the NEW cstrike folder but i get a similar error message:

[code:1]hlcsg: Error: Could not open wad file \program files\valve\steam\steamapps\i_love_puppies\counter-strike\cstrike\cstrike.wad

i am sure that cstrike.wad is the in the directory mentioned above

why wont it recognize it?

You can't have the files on different drives. If the wads are on D: and the tools are on C: it no worky.
