[Reward: Steam with CS:Source & Half-Life++]Compiling CS map from Valve Hammer Editor [Reward!]

Hey guys, I need some help.
Since it's just 4 weeks left at my school, and then all of my classmates I've known for 10 years go to different schools. So I wanted to do something special, and made a CS map of our school with our classroom as the bombing place with Valve Hammer Editor. And the only problem I'm having is compiling it into a CS-map. So if there's anyone who's experienced in making CS-1.6/CZ Maps, then I need your help.

I've added a link where you can download my map (.rmf) and the skins (.wad) that are needed for my map.

All I'm asking for, is to compile it into a CS-1.6/CZ map (.bsp)

I asked some friends of mine to take a look at it, and they say it has some errors then needs to be fixed, so you gotta fix them to.

Thanks a lot for helping!.

Given the action on this thread has been a post every few hours at max, possibly less, a bump is pointless. There have been no posts to displace it! I can't help as I have the games mentioned, am currently running Ubuntu which means no Hammer or compile tools and have no desire to anyway. I'll give you a hand with any problems you might be having though. I'm sure someone might give you a help too.

Thanks, a guy did it for me :D

One problem;
I get an error saying "AllocBlock full" while loading the game.
I've tried to reboot my computer, but I still get the same error when I tried again.

What does that mean? Could you guys try the map and see if you get the same error please?

Maybe it is my computer that has to little RAM? I only have 256MB... but if you also get the same error and has more RAM then me; then it probably is the map O.o

How come this is a Valve Hammer Editor forum and a lot of the pro members here doesn't even have it?

Can't someone help me please? I really need to get this done... I really wanted to do something special and after 4 weeks of working I've finally made the map, but the compiling is the only problem...

Because I have never made a map and have only answered stuff by picking up what others have said? And like I said, no Linux version exists. And also I guess that some people can't be bothered.

If you have the finished compilable version of the game, post it here and I'll try to compile it. But I won't go fixing any errors in the map because it lags my computer like hell if I load your map into VHE.
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

I couldn't find any errors on VHE.
Can't you try compile it the way it right now? and tell me if you find any errors and ill fix em?

Well, my computer is currently successfully pissing me off (I almost set it on fire by accident - my fan stopped working and it overheated...) but I'm compiling it right now. I just hope it'll finish the process without crashing...

Anyway, I forget, why can't you compile it yourself? You don't know how or you actually can't?

EDIT: sorry but my computer crahsed during compile... I'll have to clean it up and try again. But I'm going to bed now, I've had enough of it. I'll try again tomorrow.
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

Oh, well thanks for trying.
And good luck tomorrow =P

The reason why I can't do it, is because of my computer.
It has 256MB RAM so everytime I try to compile it, I get error that I run out of swap files, and the compiling stops.
So...yeah.

We don't have that error because we're pro's, that error usually show up in big maps made by newbs that go over the memory limit somewhere.

If MdV is going to be able to compile it i think he will need to clean it up first. (Build a correct sky, turn some of the furnitures into func_wall etc. etc.)

Yeah, well I ain't pro.
This is actually my first map and I really hope I can finish it, or atleast get someone who can help me with it.

I would've figured it out myself if I had a proper computer^^

But thanks once again!

I let it compile for 5 hours, it stopped on LeafThreads at 86% and didn't go anywhere. So, sorry but no luck here.

Look I made a school map too. I had all the same problems.
1. Compile the map with low graphics (add -chop 512 {someone will correct me if I'm wrong} command to mapname.bat [to hlrad])
2. If you don't know how to do it someone (or I will) post you a link later
3. Your map is still very big
4. You don't want to shrink your map {Am I right? }
5. You have to (delete all chairs and tables and half of windows)
6. You need to run CS 1.6 in SOFTWARE MODE. Not OpenGL, not D3D
7. If it still doesn't work, delete more. Software mode again
8. Leave only 10 player spawn points, not more
9. If it still doesn't work... Well delete stuff untill it does
10. If you're having compile errors or crashes or whatever, just post again and someone (or I'll again) post you another command for hlrad. No big deal, just too big map. I made mine REALLY big
And I have no more to say.

I think the map could be compiled but you need to do some serious optimization first. I already talked about it in my earlier post in this thread(correct sky, turn furnitures into func_wall, clean up the sloppy brushwork etc.).

Also, your use of the {GRASS2-texture will look ugly in-game.

I don't think you have clue of what you're doing, you're just tossing a load of random shit into a giant level without a thought of: what you're doing, how the game-engine is going to react or what the end result will be like. Start small, do one small area at a time and compile regularly to make sure everything works as planned, then when you know a small area works as planned, add another area and recompile; lather, rinse, repeat. If you would have used this building-process from the beginning the map would have turned out okay (I think). But you didn't, and your map ended up like a giant piece of crap...

I think the root of these problems is that you tried to run before you could walk. Without knowing the basics of mapping you decided to take on a big project of building your whole school as a map. This was doomed from the beginning.
QUACK! QUACK!
