.bat file confusion

i used save as mapname.bat and selected 'all files' from the scrool down menu after i was done in notepad and then double clicked it yet it still oppened with notepad.

In that case unhide file extensions to make sure you have renamed it correctly. If you have and that's still the issue blame Windows.

i have unhidden them all and have saved as testmap.bat and selected all files from the menu yet wen i save it it saves as testmap.bat.txt

In that case rename the file by right clicking, pressing rename, then deleting the .txt extension. It sounds like you'll have to do this every time.

open the text file in notepad, go "File" ---> "Save as..." at "File name" write whatever.bat and at "Save as type" make sure "All files" is selected, then just press the save-button.
