Hanafuda cards by type
To form most yakus in Koi-Koi, you need 3 to 10 cards of the same type. Here are all the cards by type.
Type | Card Images |
Light cards 5 cards: the Crane, Curtain, Moon, Rainman, and Phoenix.

Junk 24 cards.
Collect any ten for a 1-point yaku.
The Cup (already pictured above) is counted as both an Earth card and a Junk card.
The Cup is the most powerful card in the game when allowing the Moon Viewing and Blossom Viewing Yakus. Once you have the cup, you just need either the Moon or Curtain to win the round and get 5 points.
Some players treat the Lightning (November's freaky looking Junk card) as a wild card which can match any other card. |
