The plates have arrived!

The switches clicked right in and were removed just like on my keyboards that have hotswappable switches, so the sizing ended up being perfect. Not that that's surprising, since I ordered from a website that has been connected up directly with the tools I used.

The price ended up not being bad at all. Turns out it was shipped from Greece, which being in the EU means that the VAT was paid even though they didn't show it. There was also no import cost other than the shipping cost. So that's cool.

I copied the 10º angle of the sections from the Atreus since I wasn't sure what angle I would like. The previous version's angle was just guessed based on me holding up my arms to my monitor. That version also had the sections further apart. Now that the plates have arrived I noticed that to have my arms straight onto the sections I can't use my arm rests, but instead need to have my arms fall to my sides. I'm not sure if I will end up prefering this or the having the angle increased to 20-30.

I also got some more switches because I'm mad:

The pink and translucent switches are Everglide Sakura Pink and the black and Yellow are Gateron Yellow Switches. They're both linear switches because I was very hyped for that after typing for a while on Kailh BOX Red. I bought Kailh BOX Black a long time ago, (as I'm fairly certain I wrote about here, and the black being too heavy for me but the red feeling great I wondered what linear switch I could buy that was the lightest. Turns out that's Everglide Sakura Pink, with an actuation force of 35g. The Gateron Yellows I bought because a Mechanical Keyboard Youtuber I watch said they're his favourite so I'm looking forward to testing them.

Short review of the Everglide Pink:
They're very light. In fact, they're the only keyswitches I've ever tried that I've accidentally triggered keys just by resting my fingers on the keys. Mainly it's the F key because of it being the left hand homing key. I also have a fairly large problem of double-tapping the keys where I try to gently press the key once to not bottom out but it triggers twice. Another problem is that it feels like the actuation point is on different heights on different keys. This probably has more to do with different strenght in my fingers. As I try to avoid bottoming out I have to press very gently with my index and long fingers but when I press as hard as I think I should with my pinkie finger it ends up not being quite far enough to trigger the key. Also, the actuation point is in my personal opinion too far down. If you're the kind of person who wants really light hairtrigger style switches you probably also want them to trigger quickly, right? And lastly, because of how light the keyswitches are you can feel the actuation point. I'm not quite sure of the construction of them, but just before the actuation point the key gets "stuck" and requires a percentally stronger push to actually trigger. This review ended up being pretty long, huh?

I got some switch lube which apparently can help with spring ping, which might end up saving the Halo Trues I bought. Unfortunately I still haven't recieved the Switch opener I ordered. Keyswitches can be opened using a screwdriver and some violence, but I'm too scared to do that.

As I will be soldering on the keyswitches I can't decide on switches to use. I was fairly certain that the best option would be the Zealios V2 and some linear switches for modifier keys. I think I might end up just using the Zealios on every key since I'm not sure which keys will end up being modifers. I do want to try lubing them though.

I moved the keys around on my Planck and placed Shift and Backspace on the closest keys to the spacebar making them both thumbkeys and easier to access (especially when typing using actual touch typing). I will probably end up doing the same on the Poliboard. I also realized first today that since the keyboard doesn't have any extra keys other than not having a 2 unit spacebar (and a number row) that it ends up being very close to the Planck. In fact, it's the same number of keys as the 1u only version of the Preonic. So that's cool, I guess?

Candykeys, the store I bought most of my stuff from has restocked their Novelkeys + Kailh Cream switches. These are made of the plastic POM and some other materials so it's self lubricating. I really like this idea, and it's been getting top reviews and so ended up running out of stock everywhere for like a year. I'm planning on buying a pack of these when Candykeys restock another thing that I'm waiting on for a different keyboard I'm interested in.

That's all for now, cheers.

I just found one of the first things I ever uploaded to the Internet, in 1998!

It was an entry in the Bud Design Contest.

The contest was to color in a "NEW" button:

This was before I was named SuperJer and I went by the name Forklift. Here was my entry, titled "Nhw":

So one time roundabouts 1996 or so I went to my local Fred Meyer to procure some goods and/or services. Whilst there I noticed another young lad, also there to procure goods and/or services, but he did not intend to pay for them!!! His plans had been thwarted, however, by a few Pinkerton agents or maybe Fred Meyer Loss Prevention. Now this young lad, I chanced upon him at the customer service desk where he was being booked (serviced) for his crime (being a (non-paying) customer). Despite being flanked by the Pinkerton agents, when the young lad noticed he had a brief respite from their usually ever-watchful gaze, took that opportunity to pull a 2-liter bottle of soda out of his back pocket just enough for me to see the lid before sliding it back in, and pressing his right index finger to his mouth thereby binding me to silence. He was wearing JNCOs, and if he hand't shown me the soda I would have had no idea that it was there. He managed to get busted for stealing and STILL STEAL STUFF because his pants were too big for the Pinkertons to fully search. It was then that I knew I had to have a pair...

What parts of speech are 'only' and 'various'? This may be a gold mine.

“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were ___ instead of rational creatures."

OR

“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of ___."

Which of these is funnier? I can't decide. (That's a Jane Austin quote btw.)

I think and believe that one is the best tutorial you are sharing to all beginner mappers (newbie/noob), best in the world or internet, what I mean that the tutorial has so much detail explanation and instructions along with pictures illustrated, it just so clear and easy for everyone to understand, create a counter-strike 1.6 map and compile it (unlike other tutorials).

It would be better if you provide more tutorial, kind an intermediate tutorial such as how to create killable animal, vehicle, weapons, cctv/cams dan so on like those on

Wow, I thought this was a thankless job! You're welcome. I'm just really happy that people still find my tutorial useful. I wrote it like 35 years ago! (Something like that.) I think my heart grew 2 sizes today.

Sorry, but I don't plan on making any more tutorials. I'm already avoiding too many of my own projects. Also, what do you mean by "killable animals"? I've got to know.

What are you actually trying to accomplish?

I want it so when I it.

No but for reals, I have error.php which handles all my errors and displays a user friendly 'error' page (and if its an admin tells them the error). It also does fancy things like log the error and notify me.

So naturally, when we encounter an error I want to send the error to error.php.

For example:
I spill some soap (the gel kind, because you can't really spill a bar [unless you melt it]) on my database. index.php phreaks out cause it can't connect to the database. So it sends the data/error to error.php. Then error.php nicely says "THE FUCKING DATABASE IS BROKEN D: ," logs the error, and notifies me.

That's pretty much what I want to happen.

I did accomplish this using sessions (and after displaying the error page we set the session['error'] back to null). But is there anyother way?

I was going to screenshot this thread and rotate it then post the image, but that's more work than telling you to read the file into an array then index the bits you need and put that into a second array (because it is not an in-place transform).
code

[0] [1] [2] In this setup, the numbers are the indexing
[3] [4] [5] variables for the array. Zero moves to two,
[6] [7] [8] etc. There will be some formula governing the
transform but you can work that out :)
User
Hmmm... I'm pulling up the same page when I go to the subdomain as I am when I go to just the domain. Do you have a unique index page in the mobile folder, or did you just copy the index page from /var/www/?

http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Controls_guide

There is no good way to learn how to play DF, that's sort of the point. I've played it a ton and I still have to look around for shit until I figure it out. Also, you won't notice for a while most likely, but the game is far less fun right now than it was in 40d. The material system for various metals and how they function as weapons and armor were made very realistic and it is NOT FUN AT ALL. Every battle is 100% one-sided... :(

Really though, there is not system to how DF works. It is rarely consistent. It really is all just individual memorization of what works and when. The menu system and controls are intentionally counter-intuitive. So counter-intuitive that the game is virtually unplayable without at least the 3rd party app called Dwarf Therapist.
User
Does anybody here play Dwarf Fortress?
-If so, could you help me find a tutorial for complete newbies?
I found this but it's teaching you stuff in the way that I don't like. It tells you how to build a fortress, it doesn't go through what the different buttons do.

It says like (from my mind) press d, then d, and use the arrow keys to mark out a spot. Press space and the dwarves (dwarfs?) will start mining.

I want a tutorial with "spacebar pauses and unpauses the game, unless your inside a menu (in which case it's always paused) in which case it moves your menu back one step" etc.

If you don't understand, the top one is saying like "2+2=4". If you learn that, you know that but you aren't able to figure out 1+2 until somebody says "1+2=3". The second one would take longer time to learn the basics but the more difficult stuff would be easy.

Anybody who has a such tutorial?

-I'm also using this post to type a lot because I felt like doing so. Hah.

It seems to me there are multiple ways to interpret the sort-by-fields exercise. Usually, sorting by fields means sorting the lines using certain field(s) as keys, not sorting the fields themselves within the lines.

So the input would be for example
code
./LineSort.out 1 -df 3 -n
and the program would then sort the lines with the -df options by their first fields, and when two (or more) of them were the same, it would sort them by their numerically by their third fields?

Yes. And I strongly recommend limiting it to 2 fields (or so). Allowing unlimited sort fields would be extremely tricky and frustrating.

Still, the index category mentioned in the exercise lists lines with more than one page number with page numbers in numerical order like this:
code
expression, assignment 15, 19, 47, 191
but there aren't any two lines with the exact same phrase.
So another possible interpretation would be that I'm supposed to fold lines with the same phrase together? I.e. the above line being a result of sorting with
code
./LineSort.out 1 -df 2 -n
the following lines:
code
expression, assignment 15
expression, assignment 19
expression, assignment 47
expression, assignment 191
User
Yeah, we're going to the one up by Index. It's the one that's surrounded by mountains and not houses and suburbia.

Down Rodeo said:
Re: sorting, sort once then reverse if needed?

That's how I first did it, but you need two functions for that as well, and the lines have to go through both if -r flag is used.

Anyway, the next exercise reads:

Exercise 5-14. Add a field-handling capability, so sorting may be done on fields within lines, each field according to an independent set of options. (The index for this book was sorted with -df for the index category and -n for the page numbers.)

I'm guessing this means that
code
./LineSort.out -df 4 -n 2 -r
would sort the entire file with the option -df, then sort the words (ie. sets of characters separated by spaces) in the 4th field of each line numerically and the words in the 2nd field of each line in reverse lexicographical order.
How would I define a field though?

In the book's index a line looks like this:
code
array, storage order of 104, 210

The first field is 'array, storage of', the second field is '104, 210'. So I guess a field is defined as a set of characters that's separated from the rest by more than a single space. Or maybe that's a tab in between.

I don't think 3ds max can directly save to a .map, but you can save is as an object then import it into blender. From blender you can save it as .map. From there you'll need to import it into a program called Crafty (link), and save it as a .vmf, which can finally be imported into hammer.
http://twhl.co.za/wiki.php?id=34
You'd have to input the proper number in Team Index for the game_team_master, and then use it as the Master for the door entity.
I'm not sure this entity is properly coded for Counter Strike though, and even if it is, I don't know which number represents which team.

Alright on my foras there seems to be a problem with the session table in the forum's database. I wrote this script to manually empty the sessions table. Tell me where I can improve if you would. All the sensitive information has been stared out, you know kids these days.

Its pretty self-explanatory, but I will tell you the basic flow of the program.

Admin arrives at index.php, they login
if login is successful they go to login.php they then have a hyperlink to admin.php
at admin.php they can clear the session table
also on admin.php they have a hyperlink to logout.php
logout.php logs you out and takes you to index.php

Like when I'm in my browser and navigate to superjer.com what happens? It checks to see if the domain name is valid right? Then what does your server do?

I think what my specific question is, is how does your server know when and what to display when I navigate to your site?

Well,

1st) Your browser asks your DNS server (probably your ISP) what the IP for superjer.com is.

2nd) Your browser sends a HTTP GET request to my server IP (64.34.34.40) that literally looks like this:
code
GET /forum/ HTTP/1.1
Host: www.superjer.com
User-Agent: YourBrowserNameAndVersion
Referer: http://somewhere.you/clicked/a/link.from

3rd) Anyway the request comes in on port 80 where Apache is listening and Apache reads your request to figure out what you want. It says you want /forum/ on www.superjer.com so it goes and looks for the file for that location which happens to be on my server /www/superjer.com/forum/index.php

4th) Apache knows that .php files need to be handled by PHP so it spins up PHP to take care of it. My forams PHP code in index.php runs and talks to MySQL to retrieve the forum data, and then build HTML to represent it to you, and then hands the resulting HTML back to Apache.

5th) Apache then relays the HTML back to your browser and then BAM! Forams in your face.

I have always had a problem with it. Most of the time Firefox doesn't automatically log me in (or whatever is supposed to); but it saves my password and name.

More importantly and recently when I use Chrome it doesn't automatically log me in. Unless I navigate away from the forum index then back to it [within the superjer.com domain].

I was wondering is this is a problem with my pc? FireFox? Chrome? superjer.com?

You seem to be swapping out what is in the textbox quite a lot. If I wanted to search for something in an array and get its index I'd do
code
for j in sizeofarray if array[j] == whatwewant print array[j],j

Funnily enough not only is that pseudocode it is also Python. Just about.

I think each company keeps their own but as far as I'm aware there is one open site that has an index of all viruses, could be wrong though.

I want to populate the charArray, with + - x / ( ), and other mathmatical operators, and then search for them within the string. Then get the indexes of each operator.
So:
(-9)+87*52
( = char (also int for the index)
- = char (also int for the index)
9 = int
) = char (also int for the index)
+ = char (also int for the index)
87 = int
* =char (also int for the index)
52 = int

OK, now a bigger problem. First I made the website by trying out all paddings and other in pixels.
But that will only look the same with people who have the same resolution.
So I made a new site, this time using a table with width:100% and then four times <tr style="width:25%">blah blah</tr>.

This is what it looks like.
Now I'd be quite happy to call it a day and go with a site like this (after I finish with the pictures and links) but there's one more thing I'd like to do:
how do I get the pictures and text so that they're in the center of their respective cells (either horizontally only or both, horizontally and vertically)?

This is my table code right now:

I followed the configuration from my last computer which worked perfectly, but now it's looking for user.map in my Documents and Settings folder. Why is it doing that? Also, my log is there, I didn't put any Documents and Setting location in the config. They all go to Program Files.

This is my log. I made a simple hollow box, two people and a light. I used the config from this site. http://www.egir.dk/index.php?page=wc.htm (I used it before I found out about SuperJer.)

The Great Crystal

The biggest problem with the Great Crystal is that both your mini-map and regular map are pretty much useless. The only "real" directions are Up and Down, but you have to walk along the path to figure it out.

Never mind, ^^ I got it.

EDIT: I got this kick-ass sword for everybody and hanent enough money to get Penelo one so she is unarmed. XP
If you're using the Steam-version of CS the default wad-files can be found inside gcf-files (they're in your SteamApps-folder). To open and extract files from gcf-files you'll need a program like GCFScape.

cstrike.wad is inside counter-strike.gcf I believe.
Well yeah, you could model them (or preferrably download them as models).

Or you could make them manually in hammer like this:

This was exactly was I read the first time.

No, it wasn't. I changed it a bit.
Anyway, it's a bit hard to explain how to do something if I don't even know which part you can't do.

1. Select the brush tool (block tool) or select tool.
2. Look at the right side of the Hammer window and find where it says 'Categories' and 'Objects'.
3. Under Categories select random objects.
4. Under Objects select one of the desks/chairs/tables/whatevers.
5. Press 'insert original prefab'.

Which part can't you do?

For trees check out this tutorial.
For stairs try this tutorial, or for a spiral staircase this one.
If you're mapping for CS 1.6 (Steam) all the game's original content is packed inside .gcf-files, you need a program like GCFScape to extract it. Start up GCFScape and open up counter-strike.gcf(in your SteamApps-folder) inside the .gcf-file, navigate to the models-folder, in there extract the model-files you want (eg. pi_tree) to your actual models-folder(C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\******\counter-strike\cstrike\models).

Then add the model to your map using the cycler_sprite-entity.

AFAIK superjer is right, you can't make custom decals. It's probably hard-coded into the engine that decals only work if they're in decals.wad.

I am userid #2 but I'm the first user. That's just how phpBB works*.

* This forum is NOT phpBB and is NOT based on phpBB but I did import the data from the old phpBB board into this one with a very hackish and overly complicated script.

As I write this there are 1448 users in the database. At least 400 users have been deleted. Google doesn't index everything. For example, users who have never posted have no links to their user pages so there's no way for google to find them.

And, for the thumbnails, shall I simply store the urls to the images in the database and then put it to the table-code stuff?

That is a good way to do it. You can store the images in the database in a BLOB field but I don't think it's usually worth the trouble.

molkman said:
For the security stuff, do you mean like, input-ing the stuff through the url? Like "index.php?name=shizzle"?

Yes. Or from anywhere really. URL vars, POST vars, browser string, etc. should never go directly into a SQL query. All that stuff needs to be sanitized first because a sneaky enough user can put something sneaky in there.

In my code example above you should make sure $userinput is actually a valid table first.
User
Cool, thanks. phpMyAdmin is actually already installed on my account. And, for the thumbnails, shall I simply store the urls to the images in the database and then put it to the table-code stuff?

User
I'd recommend installing something like phpMyAdmin on your site (in a SECURE folder) which will give you a nice web-interface for using your database.

www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php

You should use something like .htaccess to restrict the folder you put it in so that only you can use it, and not everyone on the net.

Once you have a database, it is very easy to access in php. For example:

<?php
mysql_connect('localhost','username','password');
mysql_select_db('dbname');
$result = mysql_query('SELECT title,description,url FROM articles');
while( list($title,$description,$url) = mysql_fetch_row($result) )
{
echo "<div class=muhhr><a href=$url>$title</a>$description</div>";
}
?>

EDIT: WHOOPS: Forgot something (in red).

Also, how can I "lock" folders and such for other people? Like, how can I deny access to like, parts of my site like http://www.exotworking.com/files/ ? Like superjer has it on his site, that a deny-ing page pops up or something. So people can't download the .html and .php files to check stuff.

1.) In Apache get rid of Options Indexes.
2.) OR just put a blank index.htm or .php in there.

My silly flashgame for christmas.

I got lazy, so there are no cutscenes. It's kind of fun for a little clicking orgy inbetween though, I think.

Ok I have no idea if there is a firetruck like this by now but I descided to create one anyway. Lets try to make this the firetruck where we post links only just describe what the link is for I'll start with this one. Its for making a simple mounted machine gun.http://www.cs-maps.jolt.co.uk/index.php?page=mgun.htm. enjoy
About making a hole in the floor for a pipe to go through, check out this tutorial. (It's about arches but you can easily adapt it for making a hole since an arc is just a "half hole"...)

i mean like i follow the tutorial from http://www.cs-maps.jolt.co.uk/index.php?page=skies.htm but still i cant see the sky. it show blue only. why is that?

in hammer it shows only blue (or a couple of millions of copies of the word 'Sky' - used to do this one to me at first, don't know how I changed it. Probably with the halflife.wad).
Once you compile the map and play it, it will show the sky ingame.

Janpopoyeh said:
what is "The solid has invalid structure, probably as a result of vertex manipulation."

if you were mucking about with vertex manipulation (maybe it could be the carve tool as well - not sure) then check ALT+P and Go to error to see the invalid structure. You might have to delete it and make a new one.

oh, ok. But I'm pretty sure that that wasn't the problem (I ran hlrad).

Maybe I should've clarified better what the screwy textures meant. They weren't dark or invisible or anything like that. They were actually mixing, like where there should've been a wall texture, there was a little of bush texture, a little of ladder texture etc.

Sounds to me like the 'halls of mirror'-effect. Which happens when the draw-distance is too short. If you would have raised the 'max viewable distance' it would have fixed the problem.

ok, if it ever happens again, I'll try that.

EDIT:
http://www.cs-maps.jolt.co.uk/index.php?page=mgun.htm
I've read this tutorial, but there are 2 things I don't understand:
1. point 4) in the guide: it says to make the brush where you want the player to control the gun. Shouldn't the brush be at the handles of the gun then? Or is this just where the gun will turn when you move the mouse?
2. point 9) in the guide: how do I get those three models instead of the one that is created in the guide?

1. The gun always has to point to the east in the editor(see point 3), so if you want the player to control the gun in the opposite direction(west) in-game, you actually have to place it at the barrel in the editor. But once in-game everything will look okay.

2. I don't think those are models, they look to be made out of normal brushes with some weapon-textures applied to them.

1. Ah ok, I get it now. But it doesn't say anything about that brush's texture or anything. Does it have to be a certain entity and does it have to have a certain texture?

2. OK.

It might've been an OpenGL problem, because my graphic card sucks and I can't install the latest drivers.

If you want the standard wads that comes with the game, they're inside counter-strike.gcf(in your SteamApps-folder). You need a program like GCFScape to open and extract files from it.

I've checked all the Wad files and none of them have sky, but I found lots of sky texture stored in cstrike/gfx/env as tga file. I've tried wally to convert them into wad but no result

my map here, de_dust_2k8, no sky yet

http://www.speedyshare.com/862849335.html

Killer-Duck, would you mind edit it (sky,sunlight,light_env,ect) and send back the .map file so I can learn from you THX!

I also made waypoint for PodBot (CS1.5, 1.6) on this map, still being edited, Ill provide the link DL tomorrow

As IIopn says, when working on your map you should use .rmf-format, not .map. (You only export it to .map when you need to compile it).

No, I don't have time to build your map, the Internet is filled with hundreds off mapping-tutorials:

http://www.countermap2.com/Tutorials/index.html
http://www.egir.dk/index.php?page=list_tutorials.php
http://twhl.co.za/tutorial.php?cat=1
http://www.cs-maps.jolt.co.uk/index.php
http://www.superjer.com/learn.php

I recommend you to read some of them.

The "got it from a friend" could be the issue. You need to have legally purchased a copy of CS:S to use the Source SDK (or a game from here).

I've played both extensively and I have to say I prefer the PS3 over the Xbox.

PS3 is like it's own media-center, it's infinitely customizable (it has a stock option to install new OS's on it for instance) can play BluRay (Xbox just plays DVDs), is FREE to go online and play ANY game, and has Metal Gear Solid 4, which is really like the second coming as far as anyone's concerned.

There's a ton of different comparisons, some which the Xbox win, but I'll just bring those up when the questions arise.

Get http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=76 (GCFScape)..

Extract the files from the .gcf files in your steam/steamapps/ folder...

Open up Counter-Strike.gcf with GCFScape and get the models from it..
User
Only certain Source games have the Source SDK included... Unfortunately Half-Life: Source is not one of them. You need to have a game from this list to use the SDK.

Why you don't have Half-Life 2 already I don't know, but I can highly recommend the Orange Box. It will give you the SDK, Half-Life 2 and episodes, the FANTASTIC Portal and Team Fortress 2 (and also the ability to run the mod Fortress Forever). Aside from that there is a special version of Peggle and Half-Life 2: The Lost Coast (which is very interesting).

How can I program in CSS or maybe Javascript that some box or else pops up when touching a certain object (for a set period of time, not necessarily, though)? Like on addictinggames (touch the game icons). I particularly mean the fact that the box is like, above the rest of the site.

User
Dude its cause it was so damn long. That was 3 min long it took 5 min to save as a movie file and then 30 to put into youtube.

Faint:I would but i promised my self i wouldn't cuz a guy on myspace did it just fucking awesome.

They're talking about compiling with a .bat-file. If you are compiling through Hammer you need to enter the Expert compiling mode: "File" --> "Run" press Expert-button in the down-left corner. Select $light_exe $path\$file in the list then add -chop 128 in the Parameters-box. May look something like this. Then just press the Go!-button.

Anyway, you seem to be ignoring the main issue here which is your crappy skybox. You can try work around it as much as you want but in the end you have to confront this problem if you really want to fix this error.

Your question is answered in the FAQ: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=7
Just google them FFS!

Anyway this page contains some of the standard GoldSource entities.

Edit: Edan beat me to it!
Truck
If he's talking about a controllable gun turret then he should look into func_tank.
In Steam, cstrike.wad is stored inside a gcf-file(C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\counter-strike.gcf). You'll need a program like GCFScape to extract it.

You may also be able to find it on the internet although its illegal to distribute it.

SKY-texture will act as a sky in-game, eg: http://www.cs-maps.org/wiki/index.php?title=SKIES

CLIP will create a invisible barrier that stops players.

ORIGIN is used in combination with moving/rotating-entities to often define the pivot/center of the object.

ahh im too lazy to write it down

but heres a site that explains it pretty good :

http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=trigger_teleport

you just need to make the simple teleport from this tutorial

EDIT : aww more explaining my conscience won't let me not to,
trigger_teleport brush based entity ( make a brush and then Ctr+T to make it an entity and select trigger_teleport from the list)
info_teleport_destination point entity ( just select it from you entity list -no brushes involved ) if you don't have it in your list then download expert.fgd from superjer's tutorial page

http://www.superjer.com/learn_adv.php

and follow the tutorial to know what you have to do with it once you downloaded . this gives you aces to all the entities in valve hammer editor
User
You can not enter commands in the console from map entities for security reasons.

Editing the FGD will not add entities to the game. The game completely ignores the FGD, it's just used as a reference in Hammer.

You may be able to user a trigger_changelevel but it might only work in singleplayer:
http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=trigger_changelevel
User
The reason it does that is because the index page would have to check all the sections in the database one by one for any new posts. That would be a lot of DB overhead every single time anyone goes to the index page.

It bugs me too, though, so I'm trying to think of a cheap fix.

The chat will be Kwik-E-Chat again on the 29th. Every 29th.

User
i think he wants a teleport that will work only with a button ...
if thats the case then heres some useful info :
http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=trigger_teleport

yeeah im fucking lazy to write it all down

im not even sure if it works

basically you just turn of the teleporters automatic function and make a button that will trigger it
hope i helped
User
I think SJ mentioned this... It's like you have to 'tell' the forum that you've read all the messages. To do otherwise would 1) difficult 2) perhaps not worth the effort of saving a few seconds. Besides, it works if you click general then superjer forum index, it's the same as clicking back twice.
User
Hey ummm....YEAH!

When ever there a new post i go in and check it and go back to index and it says its still new . I have to go back in and back out so that the yellow square will go away.and Thats not Mellowyellow

Not a big deal. But annoying as hell....
User
This should explain it:

http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=func_train

In my experience, though, func_trains misbehave in CS. You might want to try a func_tracktrain instead, I'm not really sure.

You can use sv_downloadurl so players can download from a webserver instead of the gameserver, automatically.

User
Hmm. Not sure about the sky thing. You sure it's just "des" with no space or tab at the end? That might screw it up.

The only way I can think to make the teleport play a sound is a bit complicated:

1. Follow directions here to make the 'advanced' teleporter:
http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=trigger_teleport
2. Add an ambient_generic to play the sound.
3. Have the multi_manager from the teleporter also trigger the ambient_generic.

User
Here's a list of all the skies (environment maps) you can use in Counter-Strike:
http://www.vlatitude.com/resources/cs_sky.php

To set your map's sky just go to Map->Properties and set the cl_skyname to the name of one of those.

You can also download custom skies from sites like the Wadfather

Or make your own. There is a free program called TerraGen for doing that.
Truck
User
Yes you can make DoD maps with Hammer.

You just need to create a DoD game config in Hammer with the dod.fgd (google it?)

You need GCFScape:
http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=76
to get the DoD .WADs from Steam's cache files which are in your SteamApps folder.

I've never made a map for DoD so that's about all I know.

I've never made fire but you probably have the wrong settings in your sprite entity. What filename did you enter for the sprite?

Only place I know to get environment maps is The Wadfather

Also! After you read a truck, it will turn from red to gray now.

And the yellow squares on the new posts go away once you've read them.

Also, the yellow squares on the Index page go away once you've viewed all the new trucks in an area, but only if you then view the list of gray trucks. That's how it knows they're all viewed. FORAMS R KOMPLUH KATED!

There is sky texture in valve\halflife.wad. Or you can make your on sky texture. Create brush with this sky texture where you whant to have sky. Then (if your are using WC tools) go to Map properties, find enviroment map graph and enter your enviroment (for example city1 for default cs_assault sky). If you'll leave it blank sky will be cliff like thing. All enviroment maps are placed in cstrike\gfx\env directory. If it's still unclear i strongly recommend to visit VANDAL'S ALMANAC (http://www.karljones.com/halflife/almanac.asp).

1.Your brush render mode sould be SOLID and amount 255
2.Maybe your texture palette is bad, couse the last color of the palette (255 index) must be blue....

CLANS

Clans are, quite simply, groups of people who join together in order to create
a group. Clans generally defeat the purpose of Animal Crossing, since the
entire idea of the WiFi is to create friends, not clans.

Most clans do not make it in the world of ACWW because the game is not
centered around competition. Consequently, most clans get bored and
disband.

Hive mind. Yep. The very beginning of what many know as the Borg. It will be the demise of mankind as we know it. Think about it. Ever heard of the NARPA AI? It's a US gov't project that is supposedly going to be online in 2012. What certain people are saying is that this new AI project will include a voluntary (at first) electronic implant in (or near) American civillians' brains and will be entirely connected to a "superserver" AI. I think it has something to do with the I2 project as well. I'd better shut up about this. Big Brother is watching...

Hello everybody! I'm Back! I missed this website so much. I was searching through here and downloaded the GCFscape thing. I can't get Counter Strike sounds!

Where do i get the sounds in the GCFScape thingy doodly do?
If you have ever installed CZ then it will be there.

So what you do is, open up CS first and play CS FIRST. This way the models will be overwritten, and not replaced by stupid CZ models. There is also another way.

When going to play CZ make your CS folder read-only. Steam can't put anything into it so all should be good.

If all this fails.

Use this http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=76#p76. What this does, is it opens up your GCF Files, (steam most be closed) Once opened extract the counter-strike.gcf into your cstrike folder. After this then you should be good....

If this doesn't work....well then I don't know
